Description
The sun shines through a curtain of rain during a late afternoon summer monsoon storm northwest of Tucson, Arizona. Many thunderstorms were in the area with plentiful lightning, but when I saw the sun descend under the cloud and shine through the falling rain, I immediately concentrated on capturing the vivid colors reflected by the rain and distant Silverbell Mountains.
This scene was photographed from the Tucson Mountains and Saguaro National Park west of Tucson, Arizona. It was a scene with color surpassing anything I had witnessed from this location before.

What an amazing image! The colors and light are incredible!
Douglas Taylor replied:
Thank you, Jennifer! All I can figure was that the sun was being reflected by the rain onto the distant mountains. Either way, the color of that brief moment was jaw-dropping.

Beautifully done, Douglas! Your post-production really made this a piece of art. LF
Douglas Taylor replied:
Thank you William! I actually did very little post-production work on this photograph. I had to lighten some areas because of shooting straight into the sun and exposed accordingly. I've seen the Sliverbell Mountains turn purple before, but never this vivid. I'm thinking reflection by the rain curtain.
